How do I convert a PDF to Excel?

What does the converted Excel file look like?
Each PDF page becomes a worksheet named "Page 1", "Page 2", and so on (or turn on "All pages in one sheet" to get a single worksheet). Every line of text is in its own row in column A, in reading order. Bold text, font size, text color, and centered or right alignment are kept, images are inserted in reading order, and links remain clickable.
Are tables split into separate columns?
No. Each row of a table is placed in a single cell, with the values separated by spaces. To split them into columns, select column A and use Data > Text to Columns in Excel with the space as separator. This works best when the values themselves don't contain spaces.
Can I convert a PDF to CSV?
Yes. Convert your PDF to Excel, open the file, and use File > Save As > CSV in Excel. Each worksheet is saved as its own CSV file.
Can I convert a scanned PDF to Excel?
A scanned PDF only contains pictures of the pages, so there is no text to extract and you would only get the page as an image. Run it through our PDF OCR tool first to add a text layer, then convert the result to Excel.
