How to Convert PDF to HTML Online: Publish Documents on the Web

Want to publish a PDF as a web page? Convert it to a single HTML file with real, searchable text in the PDF's own fonts, images, and working links.

You have a beautiful annual report, a product catalog, or a newsletter in PDF format. You want it on your website but not as a downloadable PDF link that visitors have to open separately. You want the content in the browser, readable on mobile, with text that search engines can read.

Our free PDF to HTML tool converts your PDF into a single HTML file that looks like the original, with real text.

What Gets Generated

  • One HTML file: All pages, images, and fonts in a single file that is easy to upload to your website.
  • Real text in the original fonts: The text is real HTML text, placed exactly where it is in the PDF, in the same fonts, sizes, and colors. The fonts embedded in the PDF are built into the HTML file.
  • Searchable and selectable: Visitors can select and copy the text and find words with Ctrl+F, and search engines and screen readers can read it.
  • The same look: Pictures, lines, and table borders are kept as a sharp background image behind the text.
  • Working links: Web links in the PDF open, and links to other pages jump to that page.
  • Phone-friendly: Pages shrink to the screen width and keep their proportions. Printing gives one page per sheet.

Good to Know

  • One element per line: You can change words in an HTML editor, but a longer sentence won't flow onto the next line by itself.
  • Fonts that can't be built in (rare): a common font with the same name is used, and each line is fitted to its original width.
  • Scanned PDF Files: A scan is a picture of the page, so the HTML shows that picture. If you ran PDF OCR first, the hidden text comes along: it can be selected and searched, but it stays invisible over the scan.
  • File size: The HTML file is usually bigger than the PDF, because each page's background is stored as an image.

How to Convert

  1. Upload: Go to the PDF to HTML tool and upload your PDF(s). Batch upload is supported.
  2. Convert: Click "Convert." Each PDF becomes one HTML file.
  3. Download: Save the HTML file (several files come in one ZIP) and upload it to your website.

Common Use Cases

  • Marketing Teams: Publish PDF brochures and catalogs as pages people can open in the browser.
  • Publishers: Put PDF newsletters and reports on the web without asking readers to download a file.
  • Accessibility: Give screen reader users real text instead of a flat picture of the page.
  • Intranet Teams: Put internal PDF guides on the intranet with text people can search with Ctrl+F.
