How do I scan a document to PDF with my phone?

Can I use my computer's webcam?
Yes. Any camera your browser can use works, including laptop webcams. For the best results with a webcam, hold the page flat and close to the camera in good light.
How do I get the best scan quality?
Use good, even light without shadows, lay the page flat on a dark surface, fill the screen with the page, and hold the phone steady and parallel to the paper. For text documents, choose "Black & white" in Color.
Can I scan in black and white?
Yes. Before converting, set Color to "Black & white" for a clean document look: the paper turns white, shadows and uneven light disappear, and the text comes out sharp and black. "Grayscale" keeps the shades of gray, and "Original" keeps the photo's colors. The page previews show the result before you convert.
Can I crop and straighten the page?
Yes. Tap the crop button under the page and drag the 4 dots onto the corners of the page. The page is cut out and straightened, so a photo taken at an angle looks like a flat scan. Choose "Whole photo" to keep the photo as it is.
Can I search or copy the text of my scan?
A scan is a photo, so the text can't be searched or copied yet. Run the PDF through our PDF OCR tool to recognize the text and make it searchable.
The camera doesn't start. What can I do?
Make sure you allowed camera access: click the camera icon in the browser's address bar and allow it, then reload the page. Close other apps that may be using the camera. On a phone, also check that your browser is allowed to use the camera in the system settings.
Are my photos stored?
Your captures are only used to create your PDF. They are sent over an encrypted connection and deleted automatically from our servers after one hour.
How many pages can I scan?
You can put up to 50 captured pages in one conversion.
